Healthy drink options
Let’s face it, a solid diet can only go so far when you end up drinking additional calories. Starbucks Frappuccino's can have a whopping 50+ grams of sugar *wow! Therefore, to achieve your dream physique, you need to focus on keeping your total beverage calories under 100-200 calories for the day if possible. This does not include special occasions of course, but even on special occasions, it can be easy to get caught up in the moment and over-do it. This can be especially true with alcohol. One espresso martini can easily be over 200 calories with the added sugar/creams/mixers. This can really slow progress and also not make you feel the best. So, here are my top 10 healthy low-calorie drink options:
Zevia: This is zero-calorie healthy soda alternative with multiple flavors like: Root beer, Orange Creamsickle, Strawberry Lemonburst, Cola and Dr. Zevia! My favorite flavor is actually Caramel (found on Amazon)!
Coffee: I love coffee so much! Regular, blonde roast, coldbrew, decaf, it’s all amazing! With my coffee, I also add 1 Tbsp. of collagen powder too for additional protein/nutrients! For my creamer, I either do Chobani creamer with Stevia or just milk! It is less than 10 calories per serving and tastes great!
Green Tea: Green tea is wonderful! It is full of antioxidants, helps keep you hydrated and also has a little boost of caffeine! A great option if you have already had more than a few cups of coffee but still want a little something else! I usually add stevia or nothing at all for sweetening, but Tazo also has some great flavors too like Zen which is delicious by itself!
Sparkling Waters: I love this option for multiple reasons! Firstly, it is zero calories and secondly, it comes in so many flavors! I have found that Target’s brand has some really fun ones like cranberry orange! It is also very low cost and a great way to mix in electrolytes for a fun “seltzer-like” drink!
Unsweetened Almond Milk: I love this milk source for a side drink at my favorite meal or just by itself. A lot of companies have unsweetened vanilla almond milk too which is great for smoothies, oatmeal bowls, cereal or protein shakes!
Fairlife Fat free Milk: I love this milk source if you can tolerate dairy because it is a low calorie option that has a decent amount of protein as well!
Chamomile/herbal teas: I love this option because there’s no caffeine, so if you have it later in the day, it will not keep you up! I love chamomile tea because it can help promote relaxation and restorative sleep!
Sugar-free Cranberry Juice/Diet: I love this option because an 8 oz. glass is typically less than 20 calories! Also, this is great to mix with a sparkling water for a delicious “mocktail” that is still flavorful with an addition of Vitamin C!
Poppi: This is a delicious beverage option that is typically less than 50 calories for the whole can and it also has pre/probiotics too! I love this brand because they have some really fun flavors too like Watermelon and blue raspberry!
Gorilla Mind Energy Drink: If you can tolerate 200 mg of caffeine (typically 2-3 cups of coffee), then this energy drink may be for you! It is the only one I like because it has a broad spectrum of nootropics and dopaminergic compounds that can really help with focus and alertness! Plus the flavors are really delicious and the green tea one is actually one of my faves! 20 out of 10 recommend, and they also are larger cans too so they last for a while! Found online or at GNC!
